COLLECTORS focuses on three waste streams:
- Paper and packaging waste (P&PW)
- Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
- Construction and demolition waste (CDW)
Proper collection of these waste streams results in higher quality recycling and thus in a higher yield of secondary raw materials.
The choice for these three waste streams was made with key stakeholders and is based on three main criteria:
- Volume of waste streams in European Member States
- Presence of raw materials in the waste streams
- The difference between collection performance of good practices and the average collection performance, as this is a strong indication of the potential improvements that can be achieved
