Subscribe to COLLECTORS newsletter!

This first COLLECTORS newsletter was sent to you by one of the project partners. COLLECTORS is a Horizon 2020 project bringing together consultancies, universities, and networks of public authorities and Extended Producer Responsibility organisations (PRO) focusing on municipal waste collection. Three waste streams will be investigated: paper and packaging waste (P&PW), waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), and construction and demolition waste (CDW).

The innovative aspect of COLLECTORS lies in:

  • Its scope: COLLECTORS aims to identify good practices that are especially effective in territories facing specific challenges, such as high density, remote areas, or lack of resources to invest and run integrated systems;
  • How it plans to document good practices: beside the traditional waste-related indicators, COLLECTORS will assess the various good practices considering their environmental impact, costs and benefits, quality of sorted materials, and social acceptance;
  • Its approach: COLLECTORS will strive to make sure its outputs are relevant to its target audience, e.g. public authorities and PROs, and consistent with the needs of the other actors of the recycling value chain. To do so, various external working groups involving public authorities, players in the recycling and manufacturing sector, and citizens will be organised.
